It will cost around $1000, and I am not sure if it will help me find a good job in research field in international pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer or Abbott. Is the search for the cure for cancer more profitable than finding the cure?
Posted by: | CommentsIf you consider all the fund-raising and research development in search of cures, as well as the profits from current treatment regimes condoned by the FDA and cancer-experts, is it in the medical industry’s best interests to keep searching for the cure rather than actually find a cure for cancer?
And do you personally trust the pharmaceutical companies to provide the most effective form of treatment? Couldn’t they obtain more profits by marketing two less-effective treatments than one effective treatment?
This is what they don’t want the American people to know….
THE BAYH DOYLE ACT THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS COMMERCIALIZATION
This Act that Reagan introduced was intended to encourage the spreading of pharmaceutical education so that universities and the odd small business could patent the scientific discoveries from pharmaceutical research.
So, the public would pay for research that would ultimately serve the public’s health interest, in an industry that instantly became private. Our money then would now go to these big pharmaceutical companies instead of to improving the health of the American people.
The Bayh Doyle Act then has resulted in making the pharmaceuticals industry a $200 billion dollar industry every year. These are now the richest companies in the world.
And this has effectively changed the manner in which pharmaceutical education is disseminated. Now clinical trials are more biased than ever before, non-reporting of actual results is not happening, and the education behind real time data is being obscured and muddied. This is really happening people!
WHERE ARE YOUR DRUG DOLLARS GOING?
But wait, there is more. The government is behind all of it. In fact, the pharmaceutical industry is the largest lobbying body in Washington as we speak.
In 2002, the pharmaceutical industry employed almost 700 lobbyists, 26 of whom were former Congressmen, to lobby the government for higher costs in Medicare and more profits for the pharmaceutical industry.
That effort alone cost the taxpayers $91 million dollars alone, not to mention the challenges that the increased costs of Medicare incurred on the average American.
The corruption and scandal that lies behind the doors of the pharmaceutical industry is the education this country really needs, not the propaganda that we are paying for them to spit out.
I like to keep people informed of things like this, because the naysayers in this section work for and are paid by these same companies that try to keep us stupid. Their big money profits depend on keeping you and I in the dark.
We are taking back AMERICA! and not gonna take it anymore! You can believe that!

Garlic, Cancer and You

Now, today’s researchers are taking a second look at garlic and are finding out that it not only helps makes things taste good, it might also play a role in preventing certain types of cancer.
Garlic and cancer
A number of studies have been done focusing on garlic’s organic allyl sulfur components and their ability to effectively inhibit the cancer process. These compounds make cells more vulnerable to the stress which is created when cells divide. Since cancer cells divide more rapidly than normal cells, they are susceptible to these specific stressors. Therefore, cancer cells have a much greater potential to suffer damage from the allyl sulfur compounds that are found in garlic.
The studies on garlic have revealed that garlic’s benefits are not limited to any specific species, to any particular tissue or even to a specific type of carcinogen. However, there is a strong link between garlic and the prevention on prostate and stomach cancers. 37 different observational studies have been done on people exploring the use of garlic and cancer prevention. Of the 37, 28 of the studies have revealed that garlic does play some role in cancer prevention.
It is important to note that these studies are observational: comparing the incidence of cancer among garlic and non-garlic consuming populations. Clinical studies are still needed for further verification, but unfortunately government funding for garlic research is limited and pharmaceutical companies are reluctant to study widely available plants that might have health benefits since there is no profit in it.
A complicated chemistry
Garlic’s chemistry is extremely complicated and how garlic products are manufactured and processed greatly effects the medicinal value of its various chemical constituents. Peeling garlic and then turning into an oil or powder can actually increase the number and variety of active compounds. The peeling process releases the enzyme allinase and kick starts the process that leads to the chemical reaction that produces diallyl disulfide. Diallyl Disulfide is also formed when garlic is crushed or chopped, however if it is cooked immediately after peeling and chopping the cancer fighting benefit of this sulfide is lost. Others report that they believe it is over or very nearly over. There is definately no area of life which has not been hit by financial woes. A multitude of jobs have been lost. Companies have downsized, or closed. There are types of jobs may not have been affected as strongly by the recession as others? Are there any who have remained unscathed by our world’s economic crisis?
It would seem feasible that one of the first job areas to suffer during a recession would be sales. It stands to reason that when money gets tight, people have to be more selective of the things on which they spend their money. Purchases can be divided loosely into two classifications. There are luxury items and necessities. Luxury items are usually the first to get bumped off the list of pending purchases. Certain clothing purchases, jewelry and vacations would all fall into the luxury category. Food and fuel are two basic necessities of life.
A third necessity for a large majority of humans is medication. Many people literally depend upon their daily medications to stay alive. Pharmaceutical companies comprise of a multi-billion dollar business industry. These companies are working around the clock formulating, testing, improving and producing medications. They employ thousands of people whose job it is to travel around and talk to doctors and pharmacists about new types of prescription drugs, as they become available for market.
These sales representatives are highly trained in the area of sales, but also must have a vast knowledge of the products which they are introducing to the doctors. The sales representative will typically have a few short minutes out of a busy doctor’s day in which to make an impact on him, on behalf of the drug company. They will have to convince the doctor that this is the drug that he should be prescribing for a particular ailment. Doctors will further research the drug before they actually prescribe it, but the sales representative must gain his interest in that drug initially.
I know a person who is employed as a pharmaceutical sales representative. She is able to work from her home most of the time. However, about once a month her company will fly her to one of several other countries to meet with a small group of doctors. At those meetings, it is her job to make presentations, answer any questions the doctors may have, and generally make them comfortable with their relationship with her drug company. Sometimes with potential customers, she must make them aware of all the many reasons why they should associate themselves with her company. Her level of travel accommodations suggests that there is no recession in the pharmaceutical industry.
For as long as there are humans, there will be ailments. That means that there will always be a need for medications, and the companies who produce them. Sadly enough, people will have to forefit other purchases, if necessary, in order to be able to purchase their medications at any price. Therefore, it is a given that pharmaceutical companies will survive and thrive in any economy.
